What a difference a day makes ! River falling rapidly and the barbel were on the feed, 12 Barbel to 10lb 10oz and a single Chubb bang on 5lb. Pellet and feeder accounted for all fish, a very big thank you to Stefan who made sure we were on the fish and knew how to tempt them.

1.5m up and no beach at the lower end was visible. Fished as many pegs as we could from the last swim upto the bridge with standard feeder tactics for no bites/takes for either of us.
Moved to croys late afternoon and no bites there either. River/conditions looked perfect. We either didnt find them or the Barbel/Chub, and even the eels, where having a day off!
Will be back to try and crack this beat.

Caught the barbel within 15 minutes of first cast - then chub all the way. Maybe the water temperature dropping was to blame?

A difficult day as the river was still three foot up on normal so we couldn't find many spots to be comfortable as we were unsure what we were fishing into. Managed just one barbel at last knockings, my friend also had one on but unfortunately lost it before netting. A very well kept stretch with good access points

All six brown trout coming to claret dabblers, bibio hogs and daddy hogs on a floating line two fly cast. Weather was periodically rainy and windy. Fish were not showing on the surface but did rise to dry or sub-surface flies being moved through a ripple. Great days fishing.

Same old story - fished from 9.30am till 6pm and caught ZERO again today and walked/fsihing half way around - even saw 2 fish fishermen in a boat who can you believe it went all over the lake and they too caught ZERO
the reason why is as my previous comment - It's true its happening but no one seems to take action !

Theres always a fisherman in a Blue Van - ( has a season ticket £300 ) think his names David - told me yesterday when I was there - Saw the wardens with a group of Polish guys - ended up the police turned up and nothing was done - the Polish guys siad to the Police they were discriminating them - and the Police walked away !!!!!!!! - oh and the balliffs walked away
Now the thing is the Polish guys now know this - is there any hope
JUST WALK AROUND AND HAVE A LOOK AT THE LARGE OLD CAMP FIRES That have been lit - hey It's even a NO CAMP FIRES Policy ! - what si happening down there ?

It's such a shame that we hear from other anglers that the Polish - and YES we have heard this from about 8 different fishermen, tiem and time again - that thye Polish lot arrive on a friday night - set up camps and fish until Sunday evening - 2 of the fishermen have seen these guys using lobster pots !
Walk around and you will see quite a few large camp fires ? - where they have been.

Its no wounder that everytime we go we never seem to catch much
its worth noting I am a serious fisherman ( I always use Sports Fish - Winforton ) I know what fishing all about

Even the Wardens tell me that the forigners turn up after 7pm when they are clocking off !

Still not sure - why I have to pay and they seem to just turn up and empty the lake !

Still been going to Usk since 1985 - so its been a good few years- its a brilliant fishing spot in the countryside.

If anyone reads this - please put in more fish - I hear 250 every 2 weeks is a drop in the ocean - especially when the forigners know when they do put in more

Anyway spent 9am till 5pm and only caught 1 which was less than a pound in weight -
Nice day but I feel the lakes always empty.

if you go - have fun I am sure you will

The river was dropping after a 3.5m high making the fishing quite difficult. This was compounded by the lack of access to the waters edge with only a few spots being fishable. There were no swims cut out or any access to the waters edge on well over half of the fishery, despite there being a number of good looking spots that were simply inaccessible. We reserved the stretch exclusively between three anglers which was expensive for the limited fishing on offer. It may have been better in lower water conditions when a large beach section would seemingly be exposed.
