20+ Usk brownies on this lovely beat on the dry fly. Unfortunately the barbed wire reported by others is no joke. The upper section has nice stiles and you are protected from the wire. The first three gates you need to take care going over and around. Next time I’ll be using my 7.5 foot rod on this beat as a lot is tree covered in the bottom section. Thanks for using what3words WUF, directions brill as always.

Fishing:Trout (River)

Four old friends (one now resident in New Zealand) having a catch up while fishing this lovely part of the Usk. A much cooler day than all of last week although the sun warmed us up and a lot of the river is sheltered from winds. There was a big rise late morning. Plenty of Mayfly (some enormous!) but they were actually taking smaller upwing flies. Size 14 parachute Adams caught the fish. Mayflies were boiled at and taken half heartedly and rejected. Biggest was about two pounds. The rest between 10 ounces and a pound. Perfect in every way. A lovely place to spend the day.

Rainy ,River was still carrying dirty after the previous day spate , I wanted to explore the fishery until the end of the lower beat, trough the footpath laying on the bush upper the bank , outstanding environment, carefully on rainy day cause is getting slippery and very dangerous especially up the cliffs, manage to catch to tiny trouts on Nymph, river really challenging to fish ,probably will be on its best on summer and less stained water.
