Nearly but not quite. Plenty of fly early in the day, and a few rising fish. It was one of those days where fish didn't stay attached, bumped off several and one was a good fish. There was a good mix of fly, olives and stoneflies, but the trout were occasional risers. Still a nice beat with plenty of fishable water.

WOW what a beat, absolutely amazing with such a variety of water. A lot of insect life pretty much right throughout the day but only saw a handful of rises.
Didn’t manage to get to the top end of the beat as there is private property and didn’t see a public footpath.
Didn’t manage to land anything but a small trout went for an Elk Hair Caddis but he didn’t stay on long enough, I’m sure someone more experienced than me would have landed him.
Access to the river is relatively easy but Wading was tricky as it is pretty rocky but this is explained by the synopsis on the passports webpage but I will add it is VERY slippery. I have felt soles and almost lost my footing more than once so I would urge people to be cautious if they go.
There is also a nice looking cafe at the start of the beat should you fancy a spot of lunch. I didn’t try it myself but will probably do so next time

A stunning beat, good parking right by the river. I only fished the upper section, decent access, easy wading, plenty of pools and runs. Only saw a couple of fish rising all day so decided to tight line nymph with my 7ft 3wt rod (ideal for this small river) and caught 5 OOS grayling and 1 WB trout. I did try emerger patterns and dries to no avail. Plenty of may fly coming off the water, iron blue and olives. KM

A nicely varied stretch of water with lots of fishy features. 5 minutes from the A road lay-by to either bottom end or midway access. Work your way around, over or under the barb wire that’s attached to most gates and stiles.
Tried nymphs and spiders first couple of hours for no takes until a very quick rise in fast water prompted the dry fly option. Stuck with dry for the remaining 5 hours.
Insects in good numbers above the river all day. Plenty of very quick takes on cdc parachute, small klink most missed but 4 landed , best a lively one pounder, the quick riser mentioned earlier.

A truly delightful day with glorious weather and no wind. Surprisingly, we did not see any other anglers on the water.
In the morning we found a gentle long glide where trout were rising feeding on minute olive emergers. Stealth, extra long leaders and microscopic flies were a must. We managed to tempt a couple of fish after numerous casts.
We changed tactics in the afternoon looking for rises in the more shaded areas, underneath overhanging trees on the opposite bank. It required patience and more challenging casts but our efforts were rewarded adding 5 more fish to the tally. Also managed to capture the hatching process of a Large Brook Dun which was fascinating.
A memorable day when nymphs were intentionally left behind. As a famous fishing writer once said...it is not how many fish you catch, but how you catch them. Thank you WUF. We will be back again.
