Fished the evening, lots of fish rising, but many in places where it was difficult to cast. Caught fish on a size 16 adams. A lovely beat, and will return soon.

8 trout taken between 5 and 8 inches, all returned safely. Fished early and late in the day. All fish caught on nymphs. Some rising fish at times which I attempted to catch to no avail. Had to coax a stranded sheep from under a steep bank back to safety of it's field. Thanks to the WUF employee who helped me out in this situation.

River nice and clear. 5 brown trout to dry fly only, not much hatching, fish a bit quiet. Fish size between tiny and 1/2 lb.

4 brownies between 5 & 7 inches all caught on nymphs. Some rising fish particularly later in the evening to Mayfly. A couple of missed takes and a fish lost during this period. Lovely day's fishing. Spotted an otter just before leaving at last light.

Fished the first third of the beat late afternoon. Six small trout on my own pattern nymph (Irfon Bug) fished upstream dead drift. Hooked two other fish, one was larger, but the hook hold lost. Very nice stretch of water: the main challenge seems to be getting into a position to cast at the likely pools without spooking the fish. The nature of the riverbank and the extent of vegetation this time of year precluded a stealthy approach from the bank which makes the game harder. I saw several fish spook from the merest hint of water movement or gravel disturbance while wading.

Due to low water and high temps, treating the day as a recce for future visits. Parts of beat almost inaccessible due to vegetation. Plenty of small fish evident. Many fallen trees across and in the water making fishing difficult in places. Any larger fish spooked before I could get near.

Very low water levels and high temperatures meant I didn't really expect to do much more than recce the stream for a future visit. Access difficult with many fallen trees and obstacles in the water. No fish larger than fingerlings seen, but the sighting of a kingfisher twice and also a heron together with stunning scenery made up for the lack of sport!

The river was very low and clear with bright sunlight, very little evidence of surface activity. Lots of fallen trees and overhanging branches to negotiate. All fish (small)returned.
