Water high and muddy so I was unable to see my wading boots even in 1' of water, but clearing slightly by the end of the day. Trout up to 9", mostly on a tungsten weighted micro PTN. One 7" Salmon Parr, all carefully returned. a beautiful stretch and fun way to fish when washed off the river Wye.

A couple of hours in the shade of the Edw valley after a hot visit to the show at Builth.
About half a dozen small trout to a small unweighted nymph/spider. Plenty more too quick for me or came off.

The 04.45 start and 180 odd mile drive was rewarded with the Edw being in better shape than anticipated , 10 wbt to hand 5-10 ins and a cracking 13incher to the net, Griffith Gnat took 4, others to Grey Duster Para.
All returned in good condition. A great 4hrs on the Edw again.

Had a great day on the Edw today.
Slow start and some flies coming off but took a while to find flies that worked. Fished the duo mostly and more than half to the CDC and deer hair and a few less on a peeping caddis 2mm beaded nymph. 5 or 6 were real fighters with fish to around 10”.
On the down side I also caught almost every tree but only lost one. Gained one from a branch I snagged where someone else broke off.

Great sport this afternoon with the weather a bit cooler than of late.
Fished various methods on the tenkara rod all caught fish today.
Most trout took a black magic nymph either fished single or duo and some later to a Para Adams.
Usual size range 4 to 10 inches.

A very different river from three weeks ago with the water coming through very fast, nothing rising and very little fly life to speak of. Three 5-6” trout caught on the Hares Ear nymph and safely returned. Not a bad day, particularly with the kingfishers flashing up and down the river.

Bad weather ruined great fishing.

We only managed to stay out on the river for a couple of hours today as the rain was freezing cold and persistent.

That said, the trout were obliging and plenty were caught in that short time.

Beautiful stream and you really feel like you are getting away from it all.

Most fish were caught in deeper (some times only a few inches) channels in rapids.

One slightly larger (10 inch) trout , caught in a pool, put up a fight worthy of a fish three times its size.

We had booked both rods on this beat, but did see someone else fly fishing, who quickly disappeared when he spotted us.

A lovely day again on the Edw. Not as productive as last week but again managed to combat countless strikes from smaller fish by using a larger fly than usual and happy to bring four 6”+ brownies to hand, the best a nice fat beauty at 9”.

The local pub, the Seven Stars, just up from the Aberedw beat parking space has re-opened as a community pub and has a well kept pint of Butty Bach available from 4pm on Thursday and Friday (plus weekends) along with a friendly welcome for thirsty fishermen.
