Had another go on the beat to see if fishing improved with the warmer temepratures. Caught a few trout in the 6" to 9" range in the top half of the beat. Moved on to the Llynfi Dulas to see if mayflies are hatching.

Fishing was quite slow compared to the days before as the temperature dropped over night. Fishing improved towards midday. All trout caught on the nymph in the deeper pools and in the faster water at the top end of the beat.
Trout were in the 6" to 10" range.

Lovely days fishing in a lovely location. Weather was a bit bright and the water very clear but it was just a joy to be out in such wonderful countryside. So much insect life it was surprising more fish weren't rising. We managed to take a couple on dry flies but by far the most takes were on small nymphs. Missed/lost far more than we caught and lost several flies as the fish shook the hook and the line 'pinged' up into the nearest tree. A bit more water in the stream might have offered more fishing locations but still some very attractive pools. The salmon - a parr.

A slow start to the morning but action increased as the day warmed, which was very welcome after a very sparse session on The Irfon the previous day. Maybe 3 or 4 at 4”, then the rest up to a single 10” which was the last catch of the day on one of Hergest’s several deep pools. All fish to dry on a short 3WT. On the drive out I noted some heavy trimming at the start of the Aberedw beat and wonder if the whole beat has been cleared? From what I remember last year, it was due.

A somewhat cold day for the time of year which kept the trout down low. Deep nymphs took all of the fish and another 5 were missed or threw the hook. All the fish were found in the deeper pools. A good hatch of olives along with a few iron blues and larger upwings started up with the midday heat.

One missed take on a dry fly on the rare occasion that a rising fish was seen.

Lovely afternoon in the wildest of Welsh hills with sun and cloud and no rain. Little wind. The first time I've been here but the water level seemed perfect. Very little fly life about, and a minimal number of fish rising. However fish were taking throughout the session, all dry fly on a variety of Parachute Adams. A further trout lost when I caught the line in an overhanging branch. One trout taken. A number of very likely looking runs and pools where it was impossible to fish because of timber in the water.
