I fished part of this beat from 11.00-1500 for two days this last week. Both days hot and sunny. First day blank, the second had a 9" wbt plus 4 others about 5-6 inches. I used dry fly (my preference regardless of trout wishes are elk hair caddis and klinkhammer, mainly black). Although fair smattering of fly life, upwings midges etc. (sorry my identification powers are limited due to limited experience), there were very few rises. Very enjoyable time of course.

One of the most beautiful locations I have fished, caught 2 small brown trout on the dry fly but rain made it tricky. I shall come back next year and have another go!

10 - 1400 boiling hot. Missed 3 on size 20 midge, too slow. Not much fly life and nothing rising as far as I could see. Pretty dead but guess the time I had available is not the best. Still, nice to be by water as plenty of shade and cover for all.

River quite low & running clear, fish taken on dry fly (tan coloured Adams. Late evening was the best time. The fish are there but tricky to catch. Stealth essential, fish taking olive nymph in faster stretches of water. Had loads of takes on dry fly but found it difficult to keep fish on.

One mayfy and sporadic olives. Small elk hair caddis no rises. Only half beat fished so spent time just observing. A lot to learn after the Clywedog (will try again). This beat has so much space!!

Spent a few hours on this beautiful beat from very early morning til about dinner time. My first time here and the river seemed very low and clear so dry fly seemed to be the tactics. Very few flies hatching however there were a few small fish rising to something and I managed to net 7 of them around 6 inches and 1 a bit bigger at 9 inches. All the fish put up a scrappy fight for their size but I couldn't seem to find any of the larger specimens that I've been told inhabit this stretch. Sat and had a smoke by the falls at the end of the beat, by which time it was getting too warm to fish. A lovely place to spend a few hours and I will definitely have another go at this one.

Steady trickle of fly coming off on a very hot day but little surface interest although did rise a few. Fish to hand, all of modest size and the usual number of on and offs and long range catch and release.

Started fishing at 6pm and packed up at 8.45pm.
10 trout to about 10" and around the same amount of missed takes.
Large hatch of Large Brook Duns with the odd Mayfly amongst them but the fish didn't seem interested in the hatch. Fished duo balloon caddis and bead head hares hear. Most fish to the hares ear.
Anglers beware, there is now a LARGE BULL in the field.

This is an excellent beat and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here particularly after the disappointment of the lower beat. Fish were rising to mayfly on and off and we had great sport even though our proficiency at hooking the many takes that came our way was poor. This was the only beat we fished during 4 days where we saw a long pool with trout rising to flies all the way up along - a great sight. Would happily return to this beat.

Arrived about 12.30 in bright sunshine. Ate a sandwich and applied sunscreen. In less than an hour I was back in the car sheltering from a very heavy shower. The thunder made me nervous, isn't my rod a six foot lightning conductor?
Managed a couple of hours in all. No activity on the surface but plenty of insect life. Two trout 7 and 10 inches. Both came to a weighted PTN. Missed several others, so it was an enjoyable afternoon in the end.
