One very fine 14'' brown trout caught & released at very top of beat (near foot bridge). This was the deepest part of the beat, the rest was unfishable due to incredibly low water. I have fished here several times over past few years and have never known it to be so low as this before. Stayed at Radnorshire Arms, Presteigne. Perfectly decent and good value.

A rather odd day when I bowled up at the yew tree parking spot at the Titley beat of the Arrow . Blustery and very much almost Autumnal , with squally showers and debris on the river !!!! Anyway , tackled up at half eleven , and took a mooch over the foot bridge , always a lovely view looking upstream , ranunculus doing well in the low water ,and hopefully harbouring the odd brownie I thought !!!!

Slipped in fifty yards down from the bridge , and although saw the odd medium olive , didn’t see a mayfly during the five minutes there composing myself ….. opted for a parachute Greenwells , and actually stuck with the same fly the whole beat today ….. first fish was in the streamy water just before going under the bridge , usual stamp , about eight inches , great I thought looked like it was to be a sporting afternoon . Actually it was dam hard going with the squally wind , and the two other fish , eight and ten inches respectively , were from streamier water , both along that shady section just before the weir .

Always good fun to be on this beat , although mucky slimy stones now , and in places water isn’t looking fresh and vibrant !!!!! Three fish is always better than none , but almost seemed lifeless here today , very few rises , and just not the usual arrow spirit in the fish , possibly the water levels maybe . Even prospecting my dry in a lot of trouty places didn’t induce the usual splashy response ….. oh well , nowt so odd as trout sometimes !!!!!

Will leave the rivers a while I think , as some serious rain is most definitely needed , not only to raise the levels , but to aid in the rivers health . Shall head for the hills to some of the mountain llyns over the next couple of weeks , and one of my favourites , Claerwen reservoir . Still a lovely mooch in a superb quiet valley , happy days …………

Very few rising fish, but I did raise four to a small Grey Wulff running through the riffles.

Beauty and the Beast, The Arrow trout are the most beautiful in our catchment and a pb from the arrow with a 15 inch fish photo attached. The amount of agricultural bags and rubbish in the river is inexcustable, our farmers have to step up, including a sheep feed bag tied off with maggots crawling out of it! shocking what was in it? picture attached.

Lovely beat. 2 rising trout caught on dry flies in the early evening. One good size 12" and a smaller one of around 5". Missed a risinh 3rd fish by setting hook too quickly. Plenty of fly life on the River.

A really lovely piece of river, and reasonably easy to scramble up and down.

One important point -- the last little bit when you drive down to the parking place needs a right-angled left turn just before the road narrows to a cattle grid.

Water very low, little fly life, and only two rises spotted in six hours. Caught two nice (maybe 10") fish on nymphs.

Well having had a really good session up at Claerwen Reservoir with a buddy on the Friday ,.with Brownies smashing wets in the wave , I thought I'd carry on the motion on one of the local wild streams as I was off today also,.so plumbed for the Titley beat of the Arrow . . . .

A bit cooler thus morning when I parked up under the yew tree at eight bells. Overcast and s slightly of drizzle that did fade to nothing by half eight ! Very quiet till i got to that first picturesque glide ! Cast my small Parachute Iron Blue ,.a very gentle rise to it !! And boy did he go !!! A donkey of a fish , had me a real run around ; absolute beauty must have been fifteen inches ; maybe a bit more !! Lovely job.. . . . .

Second and third were on a flashback PTN ,.First time I've fished sub surface for ages ! But another tei good fish , both in deep pools and twelve and thirteen inches respectively . Last fish was in the weir pool on the Para Iron Blue ,.Nice splashy take too !!!

I did read that the Honddu fish grow big possibly from feeding on crayfish, well , I'm.sure the same happens here ! Brownies grow big on this beat compared to Whittern and Noke . . . .

A lovely session thus morning, only fairly quick j gig out at the weir at half eleven. Still low and that nasty brown dead algae on stones. Yukky stuff and stinking too !! I was very conscious at the lack of Brownies seen today !! Walking back along the field i normally see Brownies pin balling in the river below!! Today not one seen in that hundred and fifty yard stretch where you can walk close to the river ! Most odd . . . .

Still a lovely morning in the Titley valley!! A superb place to sneek in a few hours and net some lovely Arrow browns. . . . Happy days !! Back home and a date with a hedge trimmer I think !!!!lol . . . . . .
