The river was lower than I was expecting after last weeks downpours. Not much rising and little in the way of flylife.
Fished Tenkara, 2 on Para adams and 3 on a Killer kebari.

16 Trout to 1lb all returned; caught on Nymphs. The River had a small amount of colour in it when we arrived and slowly coloured up more during the day, it was overcast and rained constantly. Most fish were taken from under the roots of trees and at the heads of pools and we had less takes as the water coloured, we finished at 3pm Mallhollam Bridge.

Well night shifts smashed and a long week of work done and dusted , was time to get a brown trout fix and head somewhere local , as I got up at eleven , few garden jobs , opted for the Arrow @ Kington . . . .

Got there at one , warm.muggy and still !!! Tackled up with the six foot two weight , tiny Adams for starters , a few upwings and still a good few Mayflies lumbering around . . .

Good splashy takes in the heads of pools , and had two on the dries , three missed and also fished an eighteen tungsten nymph, had a tally of six during the four hour session . Was absolute tonic after the hectic week and great to be back at an old favourite . Some great splashy rises up passed the weir , although didn't fish that far passed the weir , perhaps a hundred yards or so , taking my last fish of the afternoon on the nymph in a deep pool . Not used to this afternoon heat when fishing , I usually go for a mega early one to avoid the heat and the sun , which tends to kill sport !!!!

Still , a lovely few hours , six beauties caught and released, a few fluffed strikes on the dries , all in all great fun as always, could still do with a tad more rain here , river running still low , a chilledoit afternoon , back soon !!!!!!!

First time on this stretch, covered the whole length with nymphs, most fish taken on flies with orange in them. 20 fish to 1lb all returned, had as many on and off but that's to be expected especially with barbless hooks.

There are lots of large fallen trees for me these add to the features and took several fish from around them however the stretch is difficult to navigate for the less able. Overcast with sunny spell, low clear river. A thoroughly enjoyable day, didn't see another person all day and the wild brownies were great fun on my zero weight rod.

Well , another session on the Kington beat , mainly went up to the weir yesterday ,no one had booked , so i figured if a wild stream permit holder was parked up, I'd do an about turn and have a go at Manor Farm . . . . Turned up , no one at the bridge so set up ,usual six foot , two weight rig ,much better day today, as I tackled up at half eight , no wind , and overcast and mild , good start . . . .

Not any rises bar two seen today , so.opted for ever so tiny nymphs, and e of the good pools , since yesterday now has an alder right across it , Shane as its x great trouty pool too !!!! I picked up four fish right up to the weir , then looped round and did some of the water fifty yards up from the weir , great sport this morning , with PTN and Baetis nymohs scoring well , with good savage takes to them ,even in the slower pools .

A pleasant four hours this morning , finishing about half twelve I think , twelve lovely brownies to the net , ranging from five to twelve inches , some unexpectedly good trout in really skinny water thus morning , great stuff !!!!

Always fun here , with its varied water , could do with three good days rain , fish didn't seem that spooked even with fishing the bottom section yesterday as well , which was good , although I did make sure the flies presented were different !!!!

A fun few hours and some great sport , back here once its had some rain, great fun , back home for a well earned pork pie and a bottle of Butty Bach . . . .Sorted !!!!!!

Again, up at five , was going to treat the Mrs and take her to the Kington beat for some early morning exercise ,but last minute she declined and had the pooch out for a mooch instead ,so onward as lone wolf one to Kington !!!! She didnt know what she was missing !!!!! Ha ha ha . . . . .

Eight degrees when i parked up attentive seven and a cool blustery wind too ,definitely not a dry fly day !!! This same time last year I was fishing here , and it was fantastic sport on the .mayfly, and more water too . . . Still ,onwards and upwards under the
bridge and tackled up, tiny tiny olive nymph to begin , and interest in second head of the pool ,lively Arrow brownie , it went like that all the way up to the weir. Couple of huge ash trees across the stream now create an obstacle to test your dexterity and also to see how tough your waders are !!! Still nothing done about styles going out into the field , three strand barbed wire is very unreasonable i feel ,must be really aggressive wheat me thinks !!!!!

Also fished a walkers mayfly nymph , some lovely solid takes too it , spot on , with the six foot two weight rod , lovely job !!! Some cracking fish thus morning too , some in thf eleven inch range, but most about eight or nine , the usual gorgeous Arrow colouration ... .

A fun two and a half hours ,only fish a bit up passed the weir , as had plans for the remainder of the day , great fun , in need of some serious water now , and three styles on the field side wouldn't go amiss !! WUF could you pass on the info to the landowner ,maybe hes prepared to leopard crawl under the bottom rung of wire , but most folks just want a fun day without an assault course thrown in for good measure!!! That said ,a lovely quick session on a peaceful beat as always, back here soon , spot on !!!

The WUF website keeps telling me that I need to submit this return (which I've already done), so here it is again......

Very difficult conditions today, howling gale blowing down the river so it was pretty much impossible to pt a fly where you wanted it to go. Leaves, twigs and small branches blowing off the trees constantly!! Caught 2 trout about 8 inches but they were more by luck than skill!! Only fished the bottom half and gave up by midday. Saw a couple of mayfly but very little hatching and not a single rise all morning.
