Slowly worked up the whole beat with a small para adams, eventually landed 6 at 7" to 11", and of course missed or touched several more. The fish still seem in good condition, though the river is very low. Nice day in the hills.

Spent an hour fishing the lower half of this beat on a lovely evening. Sky was thick with mayfly on approach but little activity on the water. Hooked a nice WBT on a Yellow Wulff but lost it. Beautiful spot with some reasonably accessible pools, particularly higher up the beat.

Cool overcast day, but flies were hatching throughout. Not many trout rising, so prospected with para dries or targeted risers where I could. Landed 6 and missed as many, 5 were 9/10" and one hard fighter of 13". Quiet but satisfying day.

No fish rising or seen - but I didn't fish very seriously as it was more of a picnic with the kids. Beautiful stretch with amazingly rich invertebrate life in the river, and dippers nesting nearby.

Lovely couple of hours enjoying the river and the solitude.
Rose six (they are so fast) and lost one at the net, all on a Wickhams Fancy....so a zero return.
Few Mayfly still coming off.

Had difficulty finding access point on left hand bank (looking downstream). Suggest walking up the road (that parked on) around the bend and past the barn and then enter the first metal gate on left after approx 200yds.

Another lovely stretch albeit low and very few trout spotted (4 in 5 hours). 1 to hand, lost 2.

A wonderful day for a picnic in the Black Mountains, but not the weather to try to catch trout; brilliant sunshine and very hot. So it was T shirt and shorts, with thigh waders. 4pm - 8pm.

As expected, the water flow was at least 8 inches below what might be adequate, but under the canopy the world was much cooler, and there was always plenty of shade. I put up a size 16 Tups, since there were plenty of pale wateries in evidence, and edged my way up the beat; casting blind into likely spots, but also covering an occasional rise.

While the Tups looked just the job, the T shirt proved an error of judgement - not just because of vulnerability to stinging nettles and brambles when adopting an occasional approach on all fours; but more tiresomely I proved highly attractive to horse flies! And I only succeeded in scaring the fish. Then near the top of the beat I saw a few ovipositing females, so changed to a Sherry Spinner at 6.50pm. It appeared rather a mouthful, but in the space of half an hour attracted three small trout, who more or less hooked themselves with greed.

This is an outstandingly beautiful beat, to which I hope to return. The access and wading are comparatively straightforward, and all but the odd corner is fishable with an 8ft rod.

Hot day but plenty of shade now, a trickle of flies hatching but nothing rising. Concentrated on the faster runs with a small grey duster para. - my 2.5 lb leader looked like a tow rope in the slow pools! Plenty of smaller trout willing to have a look, most came short or I touched briefly. Managed to land 7, averaging 8" biggest 10", no sign of the bigger brethren. Very nice to get up close to 2 otters making their way downstream - they swam through a small pool I was in and then stopped to look back at me - I suppose they don't see many people on this remote small stream.
