Sadly no fish seen or caught despite trying dry and wet flies and nymphs. The river was running pretty clear but surprisingly shallow given recent rains although this day followed a week of mainly dry weather. There are some deeper pools. The beat is difficult to negotiate in places, particularly near the start, due to obstructions placed across the river presumably by local landowners and quite a bit of scrambling is required in places. Casting is restricted throughout and will be more difficult as vegetation increases. Only very light tackle required. Scenery was pleasant though.

Bright & breezy; very low water; late season bracken and nettlebeds make access to much of the river difficult. One 9" and one small trout on dry fly.

Beautiful day. The countryside looked perfect. River a little lower than last visit but running clear. Not masses of flies coming off and relatively few rising fish, more in the afternoon. Some mayflies (which some fish were taking) and some smaller grey upswings around. Loads of black gnats. Fish came to large mayfly pattern and to smaller Adams.
Rose 15 or so fish but alas only connected with a quarter of them and half of them got off including two breaking off. No idea why! Flies were ones I use a lot so not that and tippet seemed ok. Maybe fish were on a speedy day or I was on an especially dozy one.
Hope that's this years 'misses' all done in one day.

River low and clear, vegetation high and lush! Chest waders as useful for ploughing safely through the nettles as for wading...Plenty of fly life including mayfly but few trout rising. Perservered with dries and paras but could not tempt any to rise from the deep and almost static pools. Landed 6 to 9" and missed several from the runs at the top of the pools and fast water. Grey duster the most successful pattern.

River very low - a lot of it unfishable as either too shallow or static. Very little activity. 1 trout approx 8oz on dry fly.

Spent all day on the river, but unfortunately blanked. I saw three rises and nothing moving sub surface.
Mayfly and PTN to no avail. Perfect conditions weather wise but I guess that's fishing. An enjoyable time non the less.

Lovely afternoon, fished from 3pm to 5.30pm, saw about 6 fish rising, fished for all of them with a dry. Caught one very nice WBT of 9 inches on a Grey Wulfe and raised 4 others.
Very enjoyable would like to have stayed longer. Nice pint of Butty Bach in the Crown at Longtown.
Just one gripe - the footpath through the farm just upstream of the bridge at the start of the beat as marked on the beat map is unpassable, blocked up stile and vociferous dog.

Very difficult day, hot sun, river low, access difficult in places. Mayflies hatching throughout the day but fish couldn't be tempted with our patterns. Only saw 3 or 4 fish rise all day, spent most of the day on the upstream nymph. 3 takes, didn't connect with anything. G C had one WBT on the dry approx. 12 inches.
