I managed about 4 hours fishing before heavy rain ended the session. Overcast, warm and humid with the water very low and the fish spooky. 19 trout from about 6-10 inches all caught on dry flies, the majority on Parachute Adams flies. Very hard to avoid scaring fish in the slow/still pools with most success coming from casting into or next to the more broken water.

Very tricky and wild beat with some self induced confusion as to where to get to the river. Very tough casting in most places but a lovely potential for those more skilled than I. Caught one small trout to save the blank on a white heavy nymph. Once again not a single fish rising all morning and afternoon.
Water temperature must be much lower than normal this time of year. Will be a tricky beat when trees in full leave shortly.

CP and BS from London fished the beat, 11.30am-4.00pm. Water very clear and river level good; not affected by recent rains. Scattered clouds and occasional rain. Fish seen and rising throughout the day, fished a combination of small dry flies upstream and nymphs down and across; 2 brown trout caught and released.

River low even after the day or so of rain previously. Also quite sunny, so the trout saw me well in advance of me casting a fly. However, two small trout approx. 6 inches to dry elk hair and one to goldhead ptn below. The odd fish rising in difficult to access places. Good fun testing my casting skills though! However, negotiating the numerous barriers across the river (fallen trees and cattle fences) beat me in the end and I left for home before getting to the end of the beat. Lovely place to spend a few hours though and on a day with a bit more water / less bright it would be worth a return visit!

I fished from 11am-3-30pm on a warm and sunny day. River running low and clear with fish easily spooked, especially in the tails of pools. 14 trout of about 6 to 10 inches caught on CDC & Elk/Parachute Adams dry flies, the majority from in or near the faster/broken water where it was harder for the fish to know I was there. About half were caught casting to rising fish and the other half casting blind.

East wind. sunny. A few mayfly about. Trout readily accepted the artificial. Much timber in the river so plenty of obstacles to surmount.

Didn't catch only fished in morning, nothing much about. Maybe it had something to do with the family of three otters that appeared opposite me at one stage, playing in the river under the bank. Still had good day and will certainly try again.

Difficult few hours on the Lugg today. Bright sun and low crystal clear water meant creeping very slowly and casting on my knees for much of the time. Managed to winkle out 3 trout each one 6 inches like peas in a pod on a very small PTN but had to work very hard for them. Must of spooked at least a dozen more of a similar size trying to get close enough to cast without them seeing me first but not easy!! Still it was a lovely place to be and I do enjoy a challenge!

A lovely fishing beat. Fished a dry fly not much insect life rising but saw a few fish, will return next summer.
