Four brown trout caught (2: 8"; 1: 7"; 1: 6"), two on a PTN and two on dry flies (Parachute Adams and a Soft-Hackle Dry Fly), using the duo method for some of these. The fishing was slow up to 11am, then more active up till around 3pm. Not many fish seen rising, but around the middle of the day fish could be drawn to the surface with a dry fly.

Loads of takes and 3 beautiful wbt, biggest around 1lb. All fish caught on the dry - elk hair caddis and iron blue dun pattern.
Lots of fish around - casting can be quite tricky and the river very narrow at points. 6.5-7.5ft rod is easily enough

A beautiful stretch of river, I caught 8 trout to 12", 1 on a dry sedge the others on a small bead head hares ear nymph, missed a few takes to the dry sedge. The wading can be a bit tricky so was pleased I had my wading stick.

Very pleasant day, wind not too much of a problem. Despite a good hatch no trout were rising, I decided to go with surface flies as I could not believe the fish would ignore plentiful food all day. At about 1.00 the trout did look upwards, not many rises but they were looking at my grey baetis para. Eventually landed 5 (5" to 11"), lost 3, missed several and also many looked but turned away in the v. clear water. In the streamy runs and heads of pools.

Weather warmer and plenty of fly life. Apart from 3 rises to my klinkhammer which I missed, nothing else seen. A beautiful beat and fortunately for me there's more to fishing than catching fish.

Arrived to find the river (brook?) very low with bright sunshine and a freezing cold northerly wind, walked/waded the entire beat but failed to see a trout and there was no hatch or insect life to tempt them out of their bolt holes either.
A wonderful, gin clear little river which is probably great on the right day, but today wasn't the right day.

Almost gave up at start realising I hadn't brought my 7', so went on with 8'6". Doh! Water crystal and cold but could have been a bit higher. Didn't spot or spook any fish.
Plenty of fly life. Would like to try again next year, lovely stretch.
