Deepdale Woods offer this 4.7km of challenging VIRGIN water for wild brown trout fishing on Deepdale Beck. Recent monitoring results have also shown that salmon are present in the beck and spawning in good numbers. This is a challenging piece of water with real character. It is easily accessible and sensible to wade. This river will always fish better with a touch of water in it, there are some fantastic deep holes and plenty of areas for fish to take cover. This section is very challenging to fish due it being heavily wooded, but there are also many open areas to fish the deep holes. Always remember that this water has never been fished, so any fish caught are of the highest order. There is also 1.5km of double banked fishing on Raygill Beck for those who want real jungle warfare!

Wading on these beats is of average difficulty and care must always be taken, a wading staff is advisable. Please take care when near the steep sides of the river bank. There is bedrock present, so please mindful of shelves.

The Deepdale Beck can be a fast rising river, so please take care to check weather reports before venturing out. Deepdale woods is a nature reserve, so please respect the surrounding areas.

For brown trout on the beck, the water will fish well with spiders, nymphs, dry fly and short line streamers. Use a 6ft to 7ft rod, line rating #2/3/4 is the perfect choice of rod. For the chance of salmon a slightly larger rod will be useful, and low water doubles and singles such as Stoats Tails should work well.
