Darlington Brown Trout AA offers approx 1500 meters (just under 1 mile) of adventurous fly fishing and worming water on the North bank of the small river Lune for brown trout, and an occasional salmon between the reservoir holding pool, downstream to Lune mouth. FLY and WORM ONLY.

This lightly fished section of the small river on the north bank is a hidden gem and is full of character. It is challenging fly water with a purposefully unkept character. The water has excellent numbers of brown trout, grayling and an occasional salmon and has a wonderful mixture of pocket fishing and small pools. The Lune is completely tree lined, so the fishing is challenging.

Wading difficulty is average and care must always be taken, a wading staff is always advisable. Please take care when near the steep sides of the river bank. It can be a fast rising river, so please take care to check on-line river levels and the weather reports before venturing out.

The Lune fishes exceptionally well, with single flies being the best approach using upstream nymphing and dry fly. The duo is also a great method. Fishing with a 7ft 6in or 8ft rod, line rating #3/4 is the perfect choice of rod.

The easiest of the fishing is up and down stream of the railway viaduct on the lower end of the beat. The closer toward to the reservoir you go the trickier the fishing gets.
