Had an afternoon session using various patterns on a dry dropper set up. Fished the upper portion, good beat but access isn’t easy. Had some bites but no catches. Still had a great afternoon on the river and would definitely come again.

With the Usk running high I made a late decision (thankfully) to switch to the Honddu. It had a bit of colour from overnight rain but not too high.
A fun day flicking a duo into likely pockets. A steady trickle of olives from 12:30 only raised one fish that I witnessed, but it wasn't tempted by my emerger and after 10mins it sensibly disappeared. Seven fish to net, and lost another couple. Mostly around 9-10", and a leviathan of 18", that had me in tree roots and around rocks. I'm amazed it stayed on. Lots of crouching and kneeling, so sore knees tomorrow. Have to get some knee-pads.

Great directions and information. Quite a short 1/2 mile beat which is probably best fished in slightly lower water than today to be able to fish the full stretch. A lovely beat!

Much better weather today, and having risen overnight the water levels were back down to a good level. Still only a few flies and a few rises. Caught fish on down-stream nymphs.
