Well, His Dad did say he was annoying: W.H. from Craven Arms got 6 to the net and AW from Ledbury managed one. For a change, AW wasn't the one that fell in . Water was deep and fast with low visibility after the rain. Tough wading. (Hence the bath). Only a few rises seen. No dry action.
Pink shrimp worked well for W.H.
NIce pork and egg pie from Wallers of Ledbury.

Had a brilliant days fishing with the best succes I've ever had on a nymph( I used a small beaded nymph with purple body) - 9 hooked and 4 landed (but returned). All wild brown tout, the largest 1lb and the rest half pound. All the fish were caught in the channel above the rocky island on the East Side of the flyover.

The lady in the office who I called was extremely helpful in chosing a beat near where we were staying in Glasbury so many thanks to her.

Another enjoyable day on this beat. We had rain and sun and unfortunately a serious RTC on main road which caused an Air ambulance to land on opposite side of field. Much more water in the river this time compared to my visit early May and much cleaner. Well the Trout stayed at home but the Grayling were on the feed. Tried across and down with on luck with trad wet flies - B/Butcher style. No takers. Fished head of swim straight line nymphing and all fish on the point fly - a Jonathan Barnes creation. Very small dark olives coming off and fishing taking midwater. Hopfully will be back again. Had a drink in Builth with bikers everywhere.

Not fished this beat for some years, its now very overgrown and in dire need of a trim. I jumped in the last swim in the meadow, tried various baits and methods, baring the odd knock or two nothing really happened, after a swift move into the wooded area third cast i was into my first Barbel, very snaggy and lost lots of tackle in snag in front of me, apart from that i caught throughout the day until it went quiet around 2pm and decided to call it a day before the heavens opened that was forecast for the day came.
Canoe traffic was horrendous, I've never seen so many canoeist there must have been a 100 or more that past me during the day all very courteous and considerate i might add with the exception of one foul mouthed idiot.

Thanks again to the WUF and Landowners for giving us anglers great access to a great river along with all the wild life that comes with it.

Great days fishing , not the big haul of barbel we had here last bank holiday but a few thrown in for good measure. All chub were pretty hefty , biggest weighing in at 4.5 lb . A fair few fish lost due to the snaggy nature of this beat . If you take some studded waders you can retrieve your jammed rigs as it’s quite shallow here.

I recommend going Monday to Thurs here as it’s much quieter with canoe traffic . Lots of capsized boats and people getting stuck in the rocks right in front of you ! These idiots are completely ignoring the advice given to them in their brief just moments before this happens. I saw groups being briefed here about the rapids and the rocks and we’re told to keep to the right . They don’t listen !

Be aware of these morons and try your hardest to alert them. Luckily it calmed down around 2pm leaving us to enjoy the rest of our afternoon. This aside it’s still a great place to fish
