Trotting maggots over hemp. Nothing on sweetcorn or meat.

2 grayling caught below the bridge. Both on brown PA.

Two people fished. Conditions tough going, far too hot and river too low with many swims not really viable. Of the chub caught, biggest was 4lb and the 2 other were eels with one weeing in at 4.5 lb and put up a right scrap.

Enjoyable day, partially spoilt by numerous anglers fishing the opposite bank at the lower end of the beat taking up good swims, presumably fishing illegally. Tried to notify fishing passport office, but no reply when I called.

low and very clear water, didn't see much sign of life. Beaten this time!

Between my nose and eyes running from all the grass pollen and a strong gusting downstream wind evening dry fly fishing was not happening. Eventually just before dark the wind dropped enough to get two 14” trout on a sherry spinner.

Very hot with colored water. The chub we’re very hungry and competed for the bait but barbel didn’t show
