River was about four feet up and pushing through. Three anglers persevered to land some pleasing chub, including a PB. Perseverance paid of with four barbel in five casts for one of us. Freelining meat in the crease from the croy at the top end proved productive. Otherwise various pellets.
The "other" was an impressive eel.

We took note of comments by previous anglers and left the car inside the top gate, in hindsight a good decision given the rain towards the end of the session. We doubled up in the second peg up from the downstream end. Given past feedback comments we decided against using meat as bait in order to avoid the chub as much as possible. All fish were caught on a mixture of dumbbell boilies and pellets. We hooked 12 barbel but lost three of them and also landed 12 chub. A rope and dogspike are recommended especially in wet weather. It was great to find that steps had been cut out in the steep bank. A thoroughly enjoyable day on a new venue for us.

A slow start. Having yesterday fished opposite lucksall caravan park using soaked barbel elipse pellets I thought the same would work here. After a few bait switches it was back to the ever faithful glugged meat side hooked in 10mm. A flurry of chub, one lost barbel and one landed barbel of 5 to 6lb with a small kink on its right side...all fish back safe. River pushing through but weather was pleasant.
