only fished till 12.30 caught 2 nice rainbow trout and 1 brown trout which was released safely. all caught spinning.

0930-15:30 . An upstream wind seemed to put paid to any hatch, using a duo of nymphs in certain sections but to no avail. 3 x wbt to net on the flats in the last 45 mins, 8,10 & 13 ins. A beautiful beat nonetheless.

very bright, river in great shape- had three tugs early morn, but no connection

Water level, temp, clarity good. Only fished late morning til mid afternoon. Only saw 1 in water and 1 rise, no bites

River in great condition - clearing and falling, after a decent spate. Sadly, no salmon - none seen, heard or touched. Where are they?

The forecast said "gentle breeze". It was not gentle! The wind was so strong I struggled to stand up at times! I persevered, having to double haul my 7 weight just to get out 15 - 20 feet into the frothing white capped water. Then, halfway through a double haul, the rod I've owned for 35 years snapped as I cast!
I gave up.
Am I the first person to blank on this stunning water?

First visit to Cefnllysgwynne and without my old pal A W (poor bloke is under pressure) his daughters wedding Saturday apparently he has been out mowing grass until 9 pm last last few nights!!
Fished from 1.30 till 7pm water was quit fast running and cloudy started mid beat with small nymph with a bit of flash and missed 5 first takes eventually netted a nice coloured 8" trout.
5pm jumped in car wader on boots still on and drove up to the parking by the church fish just below weir and caught 4 smallest trout and again missed as many!!
Great beat, very well maintained beautiful surroundings although quite testing getting around once in the water, seemed to be a lot of fish . I spoke to both the owner and fishery administrator who were both very helpful. I will be back soon when the river is a bit lower

A very pleasant few hours fishing. Four trout on a small tungsten nymph and a foam beetle cast under overhanging trees.
