River up but running surprisingly clear. 1 barbel around 6lb 2nd cast, from first swim by car park followed by a lost fish soon after and plenty of interest. Another lost fish from our friend a swim downstream and we stopped getting knocks, A walk down the beat saw us try a couple of swims that have produced in the past.. the pump station and the pool by the second parking spot. Not a sign of any interest in our ground bait and pellet approach. As soon as we returned to the first swim another 4lb fish was landed followed by another lost fish. Plenty of knocks and big 3ft twitches with nothing on the strike was very frustrating, stayed until the bitter end when another big fish was lost on last cast to a snag. Strange day. More fish lost than landed. In hindsight should have taken maggots but thought the river would be pushing through too fast and coloured but although up was clear, tried meat but to no avail.

Great beat plenty of pegs thanks to Stefan the bailif. Access to this beat has improved massively. Four Anglers fished spread out over the length. Caught fish through out the day using the pellet feeder .

Roved the whole beat. Just 3 Chub with 1 decent barbel lost late in the afternoon.

I collected a broken fishing chair from the swim in front of the pumping station. Not sure if it was left deliberately in not?

No Fish moving or rising. The reservoir was really low. This often happens to me on the fly when the wind is coming across from the entrance and hitting the far bank by the old warden's house. If the wind is either coming off the dam or into the dam fish always seem to be feeding. The same applies to the far end of the reservoir past the water tower and right down to the end inlet. The wind was blowing into the bank and right to left where as if it's blowing lef to right down to the inlet fish will feed. Just one of those "wrong wind" days for fly fishing.
