The water had cleared this morning but was still a strong black tea colour. Sporadic rises gave us something to aim at and we soon caught a couple of brown trout to 1lb on Klinkhamer flies. It then went very quiet with little fly life coming off the water so we brewed up and had lunch. We roamed through the downstream section of the beat but apart from tiny fish taking the wet fly, we landed nothing worth noting until the sun started to drop. We headed to the lower and slower part of the beat for the last session and caught trout, grayling and chub up to the 1lb mark on dry flies. The water felt cold and it was not easy fishing but we enjoyed the day immensely in spite of our meagre catches.

2nd day on Caradoc. We arrived to find the hot swim free & the Dutch anglers fishing elsewhere so my mate went upstream to fish near the suspension bridge whilst I dropped in & continued where I left off yesterday using float tactics & running a small boilie or 12mm pellet through the swim. It didn't let me down & produced 3 chub & 8 barbel throughout the session. The first chub was a shade under 4lb. The Dutch anglers passed by & I invited them to have a go in the swim & left them to it for a while whilst I had lunch & sat with my mate. Upon my return I saw them playing a nice barbel on the float. They vacated & went off upstream & I fished there until 6pm, where I moved downstream to ledger. Around 3pm, the float went under & I found myself connected to a brute which took me 15 minutes to play on my 5lb 6oz hook length. After resting her, we photo'd and weighed her at 9lb 2oz, my biggest float caught barbel.

Fantastic beat , easy parking at the top of the beat and compared to other beats I have fished the access to the bank is fantastic ,with a private path leading down to the water and a public footpath running alone the top of the bank. As for the fishing it was a mild autumn day with low water levels, fished standard pellet and paste with a ground bait feeder and had an amazing day with 16 Barbel to 5 pounds and 5 chub to 4 pounds. Nothing big but a fantastic day's fishing, this was my first trip to Wyebank but I will definitely be back.

We had a good day on Beat 2 at Whitney Court. The river keeper, Terry Ward, kindly gave us a pointer as to which areas to fish and we had a couple of chub and four Barbel between us. Lovely fishery, we will definitely come back. Thanks Terry and W&UF.

Lovely few hours as always on this stretch. Loads of wildlife around you and a shedload of curious cows which are no trouble. Started on the very bottom pool in the deepest water and managed three lovely barbel before heading to the next corner taking two more this on the float.
No Chub again which is strange for this stretch as they are usually the first to the bait. I find myself taking more photos of the wildlife on this stretch than actually fishing such is the vast number of birds on this stretch.

Great day as always

Nothing, not even a bite and there were 3 of us. The river looks like a canal on this stretch
