River water levels reducing and water slightly muddy. Sunny warm day 18 c mild gusty breeze. Healthy hatches of many river insect species. Some branch clearance has made fishing easier - thank you - but stock fencing made access tricky over barbed wire. Dry flies used - mayfly imitation patterns. 4 healthy trout caught and returned
One six inch trout
Two 7inch
One 8 inch
Also a freshly dead 9 inch trout was found in the river with what seemed likely to be otter bite wounds on it. Too wide for a mink. Lovely river and surroundings

What an amazing evening. Didnt arrive till 6.30 pm. Actually lost count of the fish I caught but well over thirty hard fighting trout to just over a pound. Bigger fish seemed to be in the stiller water in thr middle of the beat which I struggled with. Only had three suitable flies on me and they all got chewed up by the end of the night. Thrilled with my day.

Very sunny hot day with an upstream breeze that was quite strong at times.

Another blank for me on the Usk, tried various nymphs in the fast waters without a touch.

Lots of fish in the dry flats basking in the sun and occasionally taking fly from the surface in the flat shallow areas. I did try casting a dry at these fish and managed to get the only take of the day which I missed.

Lovely evening with friends, upstream wind didn't help with casting or hatches. Very low water but a good chance to see potential lies when we get a rise. Thoroughly enjoyable.

5 trout of varying sizes, up to 8 inches ish. All caught on a 16 elk hair caddis/ cranefly.

Tricky fishing and you'd do well with a wading staff to help you through, but otherwise enjoyable 'threading the needle' for rising fish.

Tried everything to get fish to take. Had one on the nymph in the bottom riffle bu nothing else moved all day. Right hand bank not a fantastic beat. Much of it very overgrown with no access in higher water and blocked in by the sewage works. LHS looked much better.
