Lovely early morning start. 2.5 degrees! Drove up through torrential rain so a pleasant surprise. Started off in the meadow - not a nibble. Moved up to the woods and got 2 chub mid morning. One 4lb, one 3lb ish. Then the river began to rise with yesterday's rain coming through. It rose 1 metre according to the Ross gauge over about 6 hours. No more bites

A tough day on a rising river, water levels came up by at least a metre, a continues persession of branches, tree trunks & logs passing by. Had the whole beat to myself which was brilliant for £10, found 6 swims that were fishable though only close in due to the pace of the current further out, all fish caught on pellets & feeder tactics one from the lower section & two from the upper section last thing. Brilliant sunshine most of the day a pleasure just to be there catching a Barbel was the icing on the cake

Changeable weather conditions with cold rain making it feel very wintery before clearing to bright blue cold skies. River falling but still very fast and coloured with plenty of debris coming down. Kingfishers and an otter working the stretch. Decent amount of pegs some very muddy. Farmer was friendly. Nice stretch but as per other reports can be tough to find the fish.

With the weather having turned for the colder we knew water temps would be dropping and the chances of a late season barbel would be fairly remote, especially after a couple of frosts, but we decided on a day on this lovely beat anyway. As suspecting the fishing was tough although a few chub succumbed to roving tactics.
