I had a fantastic day’s fishing. Warm, but overcast most of the day, low water levels. Not much luck on the feeder, so, on the kind advice of another angler, I moved to trotting pellets. This resulted in 4 barbel within the space of two hours. Experimented with other methods with limited success.

Nothing caught. River low with no flow and and it was extremely hot and bright. The style providing access to the stretch does need a repair. The top board is loose and could result in an accident.

It is a stunning stretch on the Wye, the scenery is well worth the steep walk

Well after shift , did a few garden chores , Mrs was heading out , so I bimbled off to my favourite ...... the Edw @ Hundred House ......She's screaming for a good couple of days rain to he honest .... that said , I did a thermometer dip and it was sitting steadily at 15 degrees so was happy with that ................

Fishing was good too .... dry fly action on a Sparkle dun and a tan klinkhammer did the job nicely... equal success on both to be honest.... the usual smash hits to thd dry ... some this afternoon cast to risers and some prospecting !!! Seven made it to the net ranging from.six to ten inches .... usual tubby Edw brownies......fished between half two and half five ... only did a third of the beat ... and got caught in that downpour to .. although I think it was very localised , as the Outskirts of Leominster didn't seem to have had any ..... much needed everywhere now ......

Still , rain was very refreshing and the busy farmers made the hay snd got it done just in the nick of time !!!! Wonderful smell ... freshly cropped fields as you walk through them !! One of those Summer smells you always remember .... anyway ,a pleasant few hours as always ..... love it here !!! Home for a Baileys and a Ludlow game pie ... sorted !!!!

River on its bones. Humid warm and bright until late afternoon when thunder clouds threatened but only a brief shower resulted. Arrived at 14:00 hrs. An olive hatch attracted the martins but not the trout. Over by 14:30. PTN in the deeper water teased out a couple of typical Usk WBT but the flow was so slow it was like fishing Llyn Onn. Another hatch followed at around 17:30 but unfortunately my schedule did not permit a longer stay. I think it is now time to look at evening bookings. The stile at the top of the beat has now been repaired!
