Last day of three on the beautiful River Wye. First 2 days produced 17 barbel so I was looking forward to today but a horrible wind, bright sunshine and falling river made it difficult.
All 3 fish caught near the first car park on glugged Robin Reds - one at 09.30 and the last 2 just as the light faded. Very enjoyable day nonetheless

The river looked just about perfect but the fishing was tough. 2 anglers and both started near the fishing hut with a couple of early morning fish. We then moved to the field beyond the woods section and caught most of the chub and barbel. All fish were caught on meat. Had my first ever encounter with a very inquisitive otter which ended up sitting on a rock about 2 feet away from me. I thought that would put an end to the fishing and seconds later had the best barbel of the day!!
We both really enjoy fishing this stretch but experience shows that you have to keep moving!

Water level up by over a metre since summer levels. Barbel came from the faster water on feeder and hinders baits.
Wadeing and trotting not an option today.
Be aware of wasp nest in the steps of the last peg on the far side still very active.
