Nothing going on. Saw 3 olives hatch all day and saw no rises at all. Water level as low as I've ever seen.

A couple of hrs putting a dry fly about, just to get an idea of where we are with the season ? River down as expected, a few changes to the beat after the storms, no hatch 12-14:00, one rise, you know the one that is behind you in the run you’ve just fished ? :) . Quite blowy today, kept the trees happy with a couple of fly’s. Some rain please, back in a couple of weeks methinks ? A blank on the Edw ? There’s a first ! Still, just being on this stretch is reward enough .

Great day - 8 fish from 15 to 19 inches, 3 over 2lbs, 2 of which were just shy of 3lbs. Fishing duo, some caught on dry, some on nymph. A few olive duns around, but was it the grannom the fish were after? All went quiet by 5pm.

1 brown 6 inches long which I returned.

I started at the lower bridge around 6 pm and worked my way up, it was windy and dry to start with and became clear and still towards the end. Water was relatively low as it has been a dry period. It is a relatively small river and only a couple of places which are worth fishing as the rest is surrounded by trees which makes casting nearly impossible. About 1.5km up from the second bridge there was a reasonable clearing with a flat still section probably 1m deep and about 20m gap in the trees. It was almost dusk and tiny brown trout were smashing flies on the surface. This is where I caught the small brown trout on a hand tied buzzer that I inherited from my grandad. The trout looked healthy but far too small to keep so I returned it carefully, I then stumbled back through through the tussock filled field in almost darkness to Cae Gwyn campsite where I am staying. Overall a pleasant little adventure.

I am staying at cae

WUF comment: This is a salmon smolt on its way down the river.

Slow for much of the day but at certain points the river came alive. Prolific caddis hatch at 6ish and the river turned into a jacuzzi - fish a cast for a good while. Beautiful beat.

Only mildly let down by out of date info/instructions. Be aware this beat is also part of a club water with day tickets so you may well be sharing the beat. Also you can get a week's fishing via the club (Llandrindod) at the caravan park for just £15 vs the W&U price of £17.50.

Fishing Passport Note : There is an agreement in place between the owner and club in 2022.
