Great day fishing swims in the first field below the woods. Rotated between pepperami, spam and pellets with the former doing best on the day. Both Barbel ca. 7-8lb caught in the last swim by the gate into the second field. One at 10am and the other as dusk fell. The Chub were all in a swim closer to the woods. Thanks Wye and Usk and the landowners.

Tried a variety of fishing methods today - pellets (large and small), meat, maggots, corn and bread but only managed 1 Chub. The river was at a good level and things looked good although it was very cold and the South Easterly wind made fishing a challenge. This is a lovely beat and I will be back again in the new season.

11 x trout 8-15 inches, mostly on spiders, and particularly Waterhen Bloa. A biting east wind all today made conditions very cold, but there were several waves of large dark olives hatching off with fish rising and a few March browns as well. Activity all between 12 and 3.
