Unfortunately our day was cut short as one of our party slipped into the river and hit his head on the rocks and it was necessary for us to take him to hospital

Made the decision to climb the hill and fish the faster/broken water in the woods first thing. On the bank and fishing by 6am.
3 Feet of water, 2 Feet of Chub, unbelievable number (i've reported 30 but TBH stopped counting after 20). Bait (mainly Pellets) was being hit on the drop. In fact i'm only just slightly exaggerating when I say I swear one jumped out of the water and caught it in the air :-) Some cracking chub in amongst the half pounders. Glueing multiple pellets together help reduce the numbers and give the Barbel a chance to find the bait. Lost 2 barbel in the rocks which was very frustrating.
In the afternoon decided to move back to the swims by the hut (to avoid the climb at the end of the day) had two good chub 4lb - 5lb and a few smaller, and two small Barbel.
Water had colour but very little weed in swims that used to have it to hold the fish

Another enjoyable day at this scenic venue and apart from the inconvenience of the padlock there is nothing to be critical of here...but the lack of weed issue and strange colour of the river is now a common thread on these posts. On a positive note though it would appear the Coarse fish have not changed their behaviour and the increased Chub catches could be put down to the more coloured water and the possibility that they are homing in on anglers baits due to the lack of more natural food. There is an abundance of fry in the margins so quite clearly the fish have spawned despite the ongoing much publicised problems. I caught a good Perch and a number of small Chub too fishing from 10 until 7 so happy with the return in not particuarly good conditions. Only time will tell in respect the rivers health but this could be the way it will remain and Roach catches might increase too....Dace seem to be in demise and Barbel catching does seem lower but all the fish I caught were in good shape and lets hope this aspect continues.

We have not caught the first time and two people could not catch a trout - this is very strange. We were on the third day when you launched the trout.

An overcast cool , opted for a local beat as up to the Elan Valley on Sunday chasing brownies on either Claerwen or Craig Coch! Anyway , arrived at the Whittern Bridge at eight bells, kitted up and walked down the Road to the Hunton Bridge beat start . . . .
Very low so stuck with a tiny Parachute Pheasant Tail did see a couple of rises and kept disturbance down to a minimum , but very very difficult with most of the wading level not over knee height !!!
Three fish this morning , all between eight and ten inches! Good takes on the dries and nice to be rewarded , with fishing so tricky in the the low water !! Still plenty of bullheads under the stones ! And five I lifted , produced four tubby bullies !! Lol
A fun but brief session ,.called it a day just passed the second bridge! Worked that lovely run which incidentally has a large ash bough in it oh and also a big bough down in the Bridge pool too !!! Was too big to man handle on my own !! Doooooh . . .
Three beauties this morning , so a relaxing session , Mrs A shopping in Worcester on the Sunday , so a full day up in the Elenydd !!! Lovely job!! These wild streams in need of sustenance now . . . . . H2o pleeeeeeeeeeeeease !!!!!
