River low and clear but fish were occasionally rising in the first pool but I could not tell what for. Decided to stick with dry fly, a tiny tups indispensable. Attracted no interest in the almost static pools, I guess even the light leader was easily visible. However, fish were willing in the streamy and fast runs - landed 6 to 11”, and missed many more. A lovely day working upstream.

Lots of Chub and a good size too. We had two Barbel at 1920 and 2030. The "others" were Eel, Dace and Gudgeon. Any method with any bait proved fruitful. Well worth a go if you need some confidence.

Another 1st time for me fishing this beat and a privilege to fish a cracking looking section with the weir gardens opposite. There were obviously a fair number of visitors in the gardens and a lot of canoeists during the day but that all quietened down around 4pm. The day was warm and bright and the river low & clear so wasn’t expecting a great deal during the day but started about 1.30 until 7.30 and ended up with 4 barbel to 7lb+ and a chub the other was an eel on meat so the tin went straight back in my bag! Well chuffed with the result especially as I missed the prime dusk time but a tad nerve wracking when you’re playing barbel in clear water ! Usual baits of pellets, corn, mini boilies Would definitely return to this beat at some point

Another tricky but absorbing day. River very low making necessary maximum stealth. Caught steadily on a small parachute.
