Plenty of Chub but the Barbel failed to show. Nice beat but a bit of a trek from the car parking and some very "challenging" swims, take some climbing rope!!!

Slightly overcast but fine day with perfect water but the fish obviously thought otherwise. Not a nibble all day.
Spectacular bird life all day including a small flock of 10 Jays flying quite high for this species; They came back later on, going upstream over the river, again quite high up & trying to keep up with a small bunch of woodpigeons. Not seen this behaviour before? Kites by the dozen as there was some cultivating & drilling going on on the opposite bank.
Lovely day day to be doing very little. Thanks WUF.

Area:Irfon & Ithon
Beat:Aberbwtran
Fishing:Winter Grayling
No. of Anglers:1
Top deep pool, one OOS small trout. In the tailout to the top pool two grayling 1+lb and another around 2lb. Trout on orange bead head nymph, both grayling on 16 BWO About 1.30pm. Later, downstream in deep narrow glide a further grayling about 2lb on a 14 CDC dry with green sparkle body. Lovely weather, cloud and sun, no rain for a week after apparently a lot of rain the previous week so evidently still falling and easy wading to knee deep. Started 12.30 finished 5.30. Lovely afternoon.

Area:Upper Wye
Beat:Abernant
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
We arrived to a crisp morning with some cloud cover. The river was crystal clear but surprised us as it was lower than we'd hoped. Fished the entire beat and saw only one salmon rise, just off the pebble beach on Abernant Stream. The beat itself has improved thanks to work on the path up to Edw Pool; still a challenge but no longer life-threatening! And it is very pretty too. Met the owner and her partner; both charming and friendly. We will be back!
