Some good sport fishing from 5 until sun down. Most taken using wet fly tactics (thanks to a fellow angler I met the day before for gifting me a team of wet flies - rescuing my days fishing - very kind). I also had some fun with a dry iron dun during the last hour.
Bizarrely witnessed a mayfly hatch! Although didn’t seem to draw any interest.

My son had a great afternoon catching his first wild trout! Taken on an adams klink. Returned safely.

Our favourite venue came up trumps to save what has been a disappointing week so far. Most of the fish came in the magic spell between 5pm and 9pm. Best barbel 9.11 lbs, most fish on double 8mm pellets and feeder tactics.

water level v low so v little flow - fish v spooky. no

got 4 small wild brownies just before the house nymphing fast bit of water running through a channel near an overhanging tree. (one was on a spider)

chucked some streamers around to no avail on the flats & in some deep pools.

went back to my tent at the campsite for a whisky & waited for last light - then went out again for some dry fly action & hoping for some rises.

after 10 mins or so of nothing happening - it suddenly all started kicking off. i had a few hits, but think they were fish too small even for my size 16 hook. then when it was nearly pitch black - i cast to a rise that i heard rather than saw and hooked into my biggest fish of the day- a beautiful 1 lb brownie. definitely worth waiting for.

Fished the lower beat. We caught a few small brownies in the run near the parking spot to pass the time waiting for it to go dark before moving down to the large pool by the hut lower down. It was raining a bit. We got a couple of pulls but no solid bites and gave up at about 1:30 am.
