Hard to hold bottom today with the number of leaves going down & catching the line & lifting the weight into the current. All chub caught in slack water. Plenty of salmon showing for some reason. Saw a very large unidentified bat species doing acrobatics over the river for about 20 minutes in broad daylight... seemed to be catching something the way it was quartering the one area; About the size of a swift.
Chub seem to go a darker colour at this time of year?
Great day to be out and about, quite mild & the grass seems to still be growing.
Thanks once again to all concerned.

A lovely stretch of river and well looked after. A lovely sunny winters day fishing a winter grayling ticket but sadly no Grayling caught. The river was still quite full in parts and made wading some of the pools tricky or impossible. I did land a small brown from Llandiro Pool which was quickly released. Fishing french leaders with a team of 2 weighted barbless nymphs, purple flash was the colour that tempted the small brown. Definitely a beat I will be returning too when river levels drop.

Great day on the river hard going unfortunately but managed a couple of chub and a 5 pound barbel
Fished this stretch a few years ago and loved it then still a great stretch but the swims could do with a bit of work for safety more than anything

Poor day, not a bite at all. Tried two swims one of which looked perfect with a tree breaking the flow, good crease etc. I guess if they are not there you can't catch them.
Had a bit of a disagreement with a local gilly who insisted I should not be fishing where I was for the second part of the day. I had moved upstream beyond the end of the beat sign as the map and instructions clearly say the beat is extended post 17th Oct further upstream. He seemed to think that was incorrect so this needs looking into.

No fish caught as the river was fairly high & difficult to judge. Very enjoyable day though in fantastic surroundings.
