8lb hen fish , coloured caught and safely returned. Fish took size 12 Reverend Mole double. It gave a good solid fight and swam off strongly when returned.

1 salmon seen on Beat 4 but nothing caught.

Barbel and one chub from the field downstream of the woods, biggest one just shy of 10lb. Other chub from the hut field.

Cold start to the day ( 2 degrees) but cloudy and not a breath of wind which is perfect by me. River low and clear but no fly life and I never saw a rise all day. Caught fish from most spots except the long glide on the open field which is normally quite good. Pestered by the oos trout later in the day ( even had two on a once ! ) but one was 18" so I didn't mind that one! .Fished nymphs all day, the biggest grayling was 15" but half of them were quite small.

18lb cock fish on 12 shrimp cascade 10.32 am. First Usk salmon in 46 years of fishing on the river!
