Weather was generally cloudy, small shower around 10am, some sunny spells. River slightly low, fished the dry river bed spot up from orchard parking. Used feeder with luncheon meat and over the day had chub including 5lb 7oz and 6lb 4oz, thrilled! Also barbel to 8lb10oz with two others over 8. Fabulous setting, great day.
PS tried three or four other swims down from orchard car park, no bites!

This was the first time I looked at/fished this beat. It is a fairly limited stretch so far as options are concerned with no shallower areas to create pools etc. I fished on the largest Croy which is closely accessible from the middle parking lay bye, although fairly steep. A recently fallen tree just downstream from the Croy however, limited options and ruined the natural flow. Hundreds of canoes! The river was fairly low with a mild tinge of colour and normally favourable.

I only fished this swim for around 3 hours before I called it a day and moved to a day ticket beat where I caught some good chub.

First of two days. Lovely venue. Very peaceful and access very good. The game keeper was very helpful too. The river was a bit low but at least is now running nice and clear. We had fairly steady action through the day with barbel to 8 lbs 4 ozs and Chub to around 4 lbs. All the fish were in very good condition.
