Fished from midday until dark. 4 fish came early on on the bottom part of the beat, all to a gold bead hares ear. Last fish Caught in near darkness near the land slip on a dry. Several large trout fishing close to the quarry bank, but could not tempt them. Be aware that Merthyr Tydfil angling also have this beat- had to share the evening with a guy leapfrogging me fishing a worm. Lovely part of the Usk though.

Fishing Passport Note : Aberbaiden is as a single bank fishery and MTAA do fish the opposite bank.

A lovely day on a favourite stretch of water. I started with a french nymph rig and due to a breeze blowing directly upstream I switched to an up and across team of spiders with one of my own creations on the point. I fished the pocket water above the 'falls' at the head of Lady Alexanders run and took four fish immediately. I fished the same method all along that run from top to bottom and had a series of snatches but no fish. I switched to the french nymph again to take two fish in the same run. It was difficult to locate exactly where the fish were feeding in the water column but why spoil a day by getting technical! Fab day as usual thankyou W&U.

Only catch for me was sunburn. Foul-hooked a small fish (approx 2.5" long) but not sure what it was. Lovely views, mind you!
Bread and corn seemed to be effective but still only resulted in interest from tiddlers.

Barbel 7lb 6oz, 4 chub up to 4lb 8oz all on boilies. River still coloured, sunny and warm. Lost a powerful fish at 9pm, it felt like a good Barbel (carp??), took off like an angry Carp!
Fishing Passport Note: Large carp are quite often seen at the lower limit of How Caple Court.
