First visit following lock down 9.5lb hen fish on the fly.

Very good day today 2 of worm and 2 spinning from top of res by the mouth of river

Fished 9 till 3 in an increasingly blustery downstream wind, which did little for virtually absent fly life and even less for rising fish, of which there were very few. Bugged with success but also tried a HE emerger down a few foam lanes, rising the best fish of the day, a 16" grayling to accompany others up to 14-15" on the bugs. No trout bigger than 10" but, on such a hard day, all most welcome. Since the end of lockdown in Wales, I am looking forward to fishing again on a relatively wind-free day....bring it on!

*6 perch where pulled from the lake but where all return... once again had a fantastic time just wish we could have caught a trout, will be there again to try really soon

Beautiful day on a serene and peaceful stretch of the Monnow. Things were relatively quiet. The odd sip and surface rise, but not much. Finally caught a small dace on a Jingler Fly. Will be back

Mick guided us for the morning. Excellent company, definitely recommend for anyone unfamiliar with the beat. His knowledge and experience v interesting. River had strange tinge, despite being good height (0.34).
As for salmon eerily quiet, think similar story for all beats above Monmouth. Sporadic hatch of canoes started about 10.30.

All the dates that I have been their i did not catch many trout as you can see I only caught 3 fish at least.
