Very hot day, little to no fish seen rising. Tried spinning and worm throughout the day without any bites.

We managed 4 barbel between us and lost a good chub to a snag mid river. The weather was not on our side 27 degrees the fish didn’t want to know, had 1 barbel first cast and then nothing till late afternoon. The beat has good parking right next to the river, but there maybe just under 1 mile of river double bank fishing available that you can walk and look at but the truth is you can only access about 600 yards due to no how over grown the rest of the river is and it’s a shame as we walked it and you can see some really good looking spots and swims,

Amazing special water. On holiday so only managed 4 hours in the middle of the day with the wife and hounds. Blistering heat , difficult conditions but managed my first Wild Carp of around 4lbs. Perfect special fish which is certainly one of the prettiest to date. Legered a single grain of corn over a bed of hemp and corn.

First ever wild

Well I picked one of the hottest days of the year to visit the Creel! Never fished it in the summer so thought be nice to see it with it leaves on the trees. I decided on an afternoon/evening session with my lad coming along to enjoy being on the Wye. I set up around 3pm but didn't fish. Put some hemp down in the swim. Had a nice picnic under the oak trees for an hour or so with my boy. Lovely. I started around 4:30pm fishing balsa with bread and was picking up chub to 4lb from the start. Brilliant sport in the sunshine. Switched to hemp filled feeder around 7pm and caught 4 clonking Barbel on soft pellets, all between 7-8lb. What a wonderful summers evening on the Wye. Must have been a dream because England won that amazing test match too! Thanks WUF for this special memory.

Decided to have a crack at this beautiful but seldom fished beat without too much expectation of catching much. This is a stunning venue and despite the hot weather there were various birds showing all day with the highlight being a Sparrowhawk swooping low across the river in the evening sun.Having visited just once before it was difficult to judge if the venue had improved significantly but there would appear to be more swims.Clearly some work has been undertaken (Thanks KC and the sunshine band from Leeds) to improve matters here and despite the difficult hot and low water conditions the fishing was quite rewarding. The venue is worth a visit if you don't mind a fairly long walk some of it being very uphill at the end of the day...!!
