Well gave one of my favourites a really early session this morning , got to the bridge at ten to six , having given the pooch a good blast , fed the pigs and let the hens out . . . Lovely to be on the Arrow at a nice height , like Thursday , water pushing through nicely , started with a Parachute Greenwells , quite a large one , as still pretty dim at six !!!!!

First pool , always a banker , nice splashy take !!!! Spot on , Great start , and a lovely ten inch Arrow brownie too hand . . . Next pool , another nice fish , good start , and only five passed six !!!!

Had to get a shimmy on , as the Grandson was being picked up by Mrs A in Hereford about nine , so couldn't hang around , moving swiftly through each pool , prospecting all the likely areas . . . Some nice fish too hand during the two hour session , and seven lovely fish too hand , ranging from seven to eleven inches , all on the Parachute Greenwells . Most takes savage as well . And three missed too.

By seven sun started to poke through and warm things up , as when I started it was only eleven degrees ; reading in my truck !!!! A nice start to the day , back home , and a busy day ahead , cinema later , watching Fast and Furious , followed by the a Beefy Boys dinner , a real Man day !!!!! Spot on , A lovely start to a great day , lovely job . . . . . . . . . . . . . Back soon !!!!!

Fished greenwells, damsel nymphs, and black gnats on this beautiful stretch of the Wye. Saw one trout rise early on, and a couple of grayling splashing, all in the Lady Alexandra pool. Unfortunately it was not my day, but I’ll be back.

This beat has had a bit of a hammering this season. I checked the catch returns this morning and saw that it hadn't been fished for 4 or 5 days so I thought I'd pop down after lunch for a few hours. Didn't see a sign of a fish and no rises or takes at all - even tried my trusty Can't Fail Fly, that didn't work either. Got above the middle weir and then started to see signs of life and got 4 to the net, all on a size 16 pheasant tail klinkhammer. Back home to log my return and saw that the beat was fished again this morning - that would explain it !!! Think I'll head over to the Escley next, that hasn't been fished since last year!

River at a good level but quite coloured. Had about a dozen small trout, biggest 10”. Many more bumped or missed. Not much rising but a CDC and elk brought them up plus a couple on beaded ptn.

One brief encounter with a salmon in the orchard. Felt the take and then just as quick it was off. Saw it break the surface and it was definitely a salmon, looked fresh too......next time
