Conditions very good but hot and the level seemed to be dropping through the day. All fish caught using feeder method with pellets and ground bait. Found the chub loved robin red 8mm pellets with a short hook link.

Booked a really hot sunny day and as expected struggled. The barbel was 9Ib 2oz and the chub were 4Ib to 5Ib 4oz.
Didn’t lose any tackle and found no snags. The river was low but carrying some colour however the hot conditions were not ideal. We roamed the whole stretch to try and locate the fish but only picked up the odd solitary bite.
Will be back hopefully in Autumn.

Great day on a lovely section of river. Most fish to nymphs (duo), but there was a proper rise just as I was packing up to leave at about 4pm so I managed one on an Elk Hair Caddis too. Grayling seemed to be present in large numbers and of good size - most over 1lb and several 2lb+, one of which took me a long way downstream in fast water. Trout 8-12" and a bit harder to find today. Water level seemed reasonable, but it was rather hot and sunny which may not have helped - although the beat is tree-lined throughout and about as shady as a river of this size could hope to be.

Lovely beat. Top water fished particularly well. River level a too low, really, for the lower part of the beat. Saw moving fish throughout the beat and the day - more towards evening. Looking forward to a return.
