River looking good and a bit less weed coming down today. Mostly cloudy, so I started in a spirit of optimism. Small chub from the off, whatever the bait and twice as many must have fallen off as I landed. Once again no sign of the barbel. I think I may revert to my former habit of not trying to catch them in the first couple of weeks of the season. But then it's good to be on the Wye even if the fish are elusive.

River conditions looked good and I caught steadily throughout the day using feeder with meat and pellets. Fed the swim regularly and had twelve chub over four pounds and two over 5lb. No sign of any barbel, but plenty of wildlife with a very busy kingfisher opposite me and late afternoon two otters came through the swim which made things quiet for an hour. All nineteen fish in great condition ????

Perfect conditions this time for fishing the Wye, not tropical heat . Early start and a beautiful morning. I was into the chub from the first cast. River was a nice pace and that brown colour has run out, leaving sparkly water again. I fished feeder with bread flake to have fun with the chub on my new feeder rod, then I switched to a big balsa and had even more fun trotting bread or meat, it was great sport. Chub up to 5lb on the float, superb. I switched back to feeder and fished pellet for an hour and truly christened my new feeder rod with a splendid 9lb 5oz barbel, in fact my first barbel of the season. Happy man. Then back on the float fishing meat and caught more Chub and 2 barbel around 5lb each. I went home with a nice big smile on my face, wonderful day. I love hungry Chub as equally as Barbel so I had a great mixed bag. Thanks to WUF for this lovely scenic beat and the access.

Good days fishing as usual on this beat. Only 6 canoes all day, wonderful. Eleven Barbel, 11 Chub & 1 Dace on pellet feeder.
River much higher than we usually find it so we struggled with the tackle we had. We are now too old to fish this beat again as the path to the end pool is in a very poor and dangerous state and gets harder every year.
