We were only two anglers in the end as my other mate couldn't make it, but we enjoyed a good days fishing in mostly dry conditions. The river level was slightly down and moving slowly until the storm hit us at around 6.00pm. After that there was a bit more flow and the bites certainly became more confident. My mate caught steadily throughout the day on Cheese amd Garlic Pellet, but not Halibut. I had nothing until my last three casts, when I had three fish all on Halibut Pellet. Unfortunately, we had to leave at 8.00pm as we had to be home before our 24 hours was up! :-) As per usual on the Wye, the wildlife especially the birds were amazing and in abundance!

A lovely early evening on Abbey Dore yesterday, landed three beautiful WBT up to 10" and missed many more. Having fished the beat previously I went armed with a short rod, even then any kind of casting is pretty much impossible, so bow and arrow casting allowed me to cover the likely looking spots. Not many rises so stuck with a gold head nymph. I waded the whole beat except for a 10 feet section that was too deep. A very enjoyable few hours.

The river was in need of water, very sluggish. The storm that arrived at the end of the day will have helped but a good couple of days proper rain is required. My first time on this beat and a lovely stretch with easy access to the bank. Fishing was slow but that was likely due to the condition of the river. One small but very healthy barbel of about 2 pounds and a good sized eel which was good to see if not to catch.

First time fishing this beat, bit of a challenge to say the least!! Lots of vegetation and very difficult to negotiate with bank access overgrown and very limited casting space. However achieved five lovely trout to hand using a Grey Wullf pattern as there were plenty of Mayflies hatching. There were some torrential downpours and this freshened the water and increased the fish activity when accompanied by some late evening sunshine. I found the downstream part of the beat gave much better opportunities as there were bank areas which allowed a more 'relaxing' cast, however I was never really sure where the downstream beat ended? All in all a good 'wild stream' beat which gives rewards if you are prepared to crawl, fight the vegetation and achieve a decent cast

5 chub and one barbel, fishing slowed after 3pm... A great day on a lovely beat free from traffic noise and very tranquil. Incredible wildlife and friendly keepers. Thank you very much... we really appreciate you allowing well behaved dogs, our terrier sits quietly with us all day.... thanks again.
