3 Perch returned but haunted all day by the sight of those ghost coloured rainbows that stuck up two fins to every lure and worm I tried to tempt them with!

A productive days fishing in a picturesque location.
On first reconnoitring the beat, the first peg you come to (fishing hut) was clearly the spot for local dogs to enjoy their daily swim in addition to their constitutional walk. It was a little surprising when later the dog owners themselves jumped in! Canoes were launched throughout the day.
We fished the wooded area. Its worth noting that at present, the path at the near end of the wood is impassable. You have to walk to the far end of the wood, then walk back along the bank to get access to the natural swims available. Its a long walk up and down a hill!
Lastly, the 2 clear pegs in the wood were full of fish. But, they were both very snaggy. I don't see any other reports of this. Possibly somethings moved in and lodged there recently.

Weather was very hot and sunny, no sign of any fish, no bites at all, difficult days fishing.

Quick trip up to my favourite stream at Cregina. Zero caught in the morning. I was getting them up but they wouldn’t stay on and I started to worry a bit.
Things picked up after lunch with 9 fish caught. The usual range of Edw trout at 6-10” and I suspect some of my smaller catch were Salmon Parr but I wasn’t very confident so I’ve marked down a couple caught. They had a deeper fork in tail than the trout. Got snarled in Welsh Show traffic on the way home - bad planning!

Our first time trying euro nymphing, so very happy with a few small trout.

The river was still very low and the colour was slightly less brown although far from being clear. Very pleasant temperature for fishing. Floating streamer weed still a nuisance. The barbel were seemingly not interested in feeding during the day and all fish bar one were caught in the last couple of hours .

Beat:Lyepole

The Lugg has not fished well this season (no, let me rephrase that, I have not done well on the Lugg this season). That said, I was expecting more from Lyepole; which invariably produces, even on those dog days of summer. Not much to report. My "other" was a specimen minnow; which picked the nymph off the bottom, as I was checking my phone to see how the golfer I had backed in The Open was getting on (placed at 200/1)
I agree with Oliver Birch, this beat needs a trim. You should take note of this observation, as it comes from a man who knows a thing or two about trimming; I have my hair cut twice a year, whether it needs cutting or not. You might also like to re-think the premium pricing for this beat as, with the Cottage occupied, as it invariably is, there is not a fat lot to go at downstream. I accept that it is the owner, and not Wye & Usk, that sets the ticket price but, the paucity of bookings this season suggests that I am not the only one who thinks this way
Stopped of at one of our club beats on the way home where, with the exception of the minnow, I duplicated my Lyepole catch
