I have fished the Edw wild stream many times but never Hundred House. The description has always put me off, “meandering stream” and all that. It is very different from the other Edw beats which run faster. On Hundred House here are long stretches of unbroken water and this meant needing to go slowly and carefully to not disturb the fish. I started at 11am and walked off at 6pm, having only done 2/3rds of the beat - that’s slow!
What is very much the same at the other Edw beats is how productive the fishing is. 25 WBT all fell to dry. Most were the normal sizes for Edw trout at 6”-10” except for 3 exceptions. 2 fish at 12” and 1 massive fish at 16” which had my 3WT bent double, gave me a personal best for the Edw, and sent me away very happy.

Great sport this afternoon with the weather a bit cooler than of late.
Fished various methods on the tenkara rod all caught fish today.
Most trout took a black magic nymph either fished single or duo and some later to a Para Adams.
Usual size range 4 to 10 inches.

Warm day, but cooler than yesterday and overcast (around 20C) - a bit of a breeze whipped up around 7pm and there were spots of rain as we drove away. Fished from 5pm for two and a half hours. Water was low and clear, not much moving. A couple of pulls from small-ish feeling trout on PTNs, but nothing more and no evening rise today - likely the changeable weather had something to do with it.
Very pleasant beat and we enjoyed a picnic overlooking the main pool.

River brownish algal tinge and fish just weren’t on it. Absolute bedlam down there surrounded on both sides by swimming parties, screaming kids and regular barking dogs fetching sticks, balls or whatever else could be thrown in. Quite ironic given the no dogs rule which meant my impeccably behaved black lab wasn’t sitting quietly by my side as usual! Real disappointment, very overpriced and one Eel between us to show for the 350 mile round trip - lol!

Two of us fished using cage feeders with 8mm banded fish meal pellets on the hook, very slow with just one barbel between us.
River slightly above normal also with what looked like some algae bloom

1 Barbel
