Sunny day 20* No shortage of rising fish, but as far as fishermen are concerned, many of them seemed to be under a " Nill by mouth order" or so it seems, despite our attempts feed them. 5 trout between two rods, small dry flies and nymphs. Best fish 1. 1/2lbs

Fished in the evening chucked everything apart from the kitchen sink at them all with no result. Looks like a hard year ahead

A beautiful spot. We just fished the evening session from 5pm onwards. Hot weather, crystal clear water. Spotted a few big fish as we walked down to the lower section of the beat (and it is a big beat, including the main river and two wild streams), but couldn't entice either of them. My fishing partner did eventually catch a beautiful fish on a dry, jingler style fly, and a second smaller one on a streamer as the light faded. I managed two smaller fish on nymph above a Klinkhammer. Will definitely come back here again to fish the whole beat... onto Pantysgallog for day two...

River low and clear. Much fly life but fish topping and tailing taking just below the surface. Black CDC shuttlecock and black wet size 18 most successful.

I fished the ripples, the glides, the deep pools, the weir and not a sign of a fish; no tugs at the nymph, not a rise to be seen and not even one dashing away from my boots; not in the cloudy morning or the sunny afternoon.
The beat looks as if it is perfect for brownies, treed almost all along but not too overhung, yet cover in paces for fish to hide. The water was cool, flowing well and slightly coloured, but not so much you couldn't see the bottom in 2 feet of water. The location is isolated and quiet with only the sheep for company - idyllic.
I've had 3 attempts at the Arrow in 3 years on different beats with the same zero result. I think I'll leave it to anglers more skilled than me.
PARKING BEWARE! When parking to the left of the yew tree trunk, beware a large stump, hidden by vegetation that will take you bumper off. Don't go too far forward.
