Fished in the wood section and to start off river conditions looked perfect . Caught all the fish in the first 3 hours on flavoured meat but as the wind increased and the water level rose the amount of debris catching the line made fishing difficult so packed up and left for the hike back to the car .

After spending over an hour to find and clear some swims the fishing was very productive so it was worth the hard work.

A warm day. The threatened rain never materialised. Water level rose marginally during the day to .509 on the Ross gauge.
There were salmon showing but not taking. Only one or two canoes seen in the early afternoon. Lovely water. It would be a fabulous beat on which to hook a salmon.

We both had a great day on this fantastic part of the Wye ,a slight rise in river levels overnight made conditions ideal ,fished towards the top end of the beat from early afternoon onwards, occasional fish to start with but towards late afternoon the fishing improved ,fished with swimfeeders and 8 mm pellet hookbait ,lots of hemp and 4 mm pellets in feeder. Most of the Barbel were around 6-8 lbs with a few going up to around 9 lbs. Looking forward to returning to this beat. Worth noting the fact that I fished the same peg around a month ago and only caught 1 Barbel all day.

We expected to find the river very low, like the surrounding rivers, but it was a perfect height and with a welcoming tinge, and we were very hopefully, however it was raining and the river rose a bit and coloured up and by midday was no longer fishable.
