Been a year since i fished the Arrow, having spent most of my time on Monnow this year, forgot how well the feisty brown trout fight here. On multiple times thought I had a 12 incher for it to be a plump 8 inch fish. Started on dry and then duo with limited success, French nymphing runs immediatly produced more fish, on 3mm black beaded drab fly. A dream of a stream!

Our first time on this water. Not a take all day on spinner or fly but the bright blustery conditions were against us. The tranquillity and scenery made up for the lack of fish though.

First time at Dinas since the it was separated from the adjoining Abercynrig beat. Good day weather wise with warm temperatures and plenty of cloud cover. Whilst there were good numbers of upwings coming off didn't see much surface activity but caught plenty of fish from the faster water using short line nymphing techniques. Sizes ranged from palm of your hand type stuff through to a couple of nice Browns around the 1.5lb mark. Tungsten beaded quill nymph proved the best fly on the day. Looking forward to returning!

Arrived early to find river was up and a milk chocolate colour. Lovely Chub of exactly 4lbs first cast, and a 9lb 9oz Barbel second cast, things were looking good. Three more Barbel (7lb12oz, 6lb4oz and 4lb11oz) by 10am then the sun broke through and things died. Found a few bites early afternoon by scaling down the bait size to hair rigged single Sweetcorn with a size 14 hook. Caught one (8lb6oz) and lost another to snags. From 4pm things picked up again with 5 more landed (5lb8oz, 7lb8oz, 5lb10oz, 6lb6oz and 6lb4oz) and three lost to snags.
Kept on the move all day trying different swims along the field between the two parking spaces, picking up fish in most. Had a look up stream of the line of trees but the extra water made this area look very difficult (although there were plenty on the far bank trying).
Another great day on the Wye, can't wait to get back

Fishing from 4.00 pm with the river well up, a bit of colour and good flow. Cloudy, warm weather. A few taps on pellet in the first hour then switched to meat and caught steadily with barbel to 7-3 and three four pound chub. A perfect evening's fishing.

Arrived at 10.45 to perfect salmon conditions at .77m and light colour. Fished spinner and landed a strong hen fish of about 9lb at 12.15 with the expert help of my colleague John Lewis. Fish was quite bronzed so as the hook detached itself in the net the fish was returned safely without handling. Fish taken on gold and red rapala at the rock..
No further fish for either of us. Nice to see the owner Barry Paraskeva down on such a good day. We left him fishing fly down woodstream. Hope he had something for his long journey down from London.

After the previous days fishing at Caradoc, we were expecting to find that the river had dropped a little overnight. We were surprised to find it had risen further and we were going to have to change our plans a little. We fished the inside line along the length of the fishery and after a slow start, we caught steadily throughout the day. Most fish caught on meat, with mini boilies not really working, whereas with a little less colour the day before it was the other way around. Overall a very enjoyable day.
