A beautiful autumn day fishing this lovely fly water, but no salmon seen or touched, despite optimism following last week's spate. The path to the uppermost pool, past the new lodge, is dodgy in dry weather and would be hazardous on a wet day with high water. Other reports have commented on the wonky style. The beat would really benefit from a hut, although the Gromain owner kindly let us use the old Ty Newydd hut at the bottom of the beat which is now part of Gromain.

My favorite Wye and Usk water given the scenery and peace and quiet.Bright sunny day with the river dropping and very little colour. The chub responded well to pellet , we all fished the float. two barbel later in the day. A stunning place to fish.

River levels WAY up from last time I visited, and not a rise or fish in sight. Managed to take a small brownie on the nymph through the gravelly run though, no more than 6 inches.

The river was starting to fine down but still coloured. Accessible pegs were not easy to find due to steep climbs and slippery banks. Some were only fishable with feeder approach. Driving direct to the river proved impossible due to flooded track therefore access was only possible walking across fields. We found two pegs where fishing was possible using float and feeder tactics at the bottom of the stretch. Caught barbel on first put in on feeder with pellet. Later switched to float with maggot and caught chub, barbel and dace.

Fly on intermediate and floating lines. no offers, saw only a few fish. River still a bit high. Access to water on this beat is very poor indeed when cannot go in at one place and wade a great length. Will not fish it again

River continuing to drop but very fast along the concrete walkway. Floating weed a nuisance and just the odd fish put in an appearance. Warm sunny day with no wind.
