Very little action during the day. Except for one pool where I caught one 4" trout and lost another.
Later in the evening, there was a good hatch of several upwing species. Trout were splashy takes with a small mayfly imitation. I had a few missed takes from fish which then spooked the pool for a few minutes. I used a Humpy early on and a small Grey Wulff later. The chub (and I lost a few) were supping, taking emergers. The later it got the more fished that showed, peaking about 8:15pm.
All in all a good day with low water.

Barbed wire and extremely dense plant growth all along the beat make almost a fortress of it. This didn’t make me feel welcome. Having overcome these barriers, the exuberant vegetation limits casting highly (in summer only?).
This day the water was far from clear. Two rises seen, followed by two brown trout of 7 inches each on cdc march brown and cdc loop wing caddis. Nymphing without any result.

Lovely day, not too sunny. Water a little coloured which made wading a little tricky. Mostly fished duo and took equally on ptn and ehc. Best fish about 10”.

All happened in the last 90 minutes or so as others have reported. Floating weed caused some problems even with the rod tips low but a 7lb 12oz barbel at the death made it all worth while.

Arrived mid afternoon and caught 3 chub of about 4.5lb in the first hour. Very bright and calm and thought it would improve still further in the evening but didn't have another bite. Lovely stretch of river with very good access.

Rained cats and dogs so I had the river to myself all day. I just love the view back up the river.
