Lovely river conditions, this beat is so rewarding when you learn your spots. Fished a french leader style for the first time for about an hour and caught one small grayling, before switching to Czech style where I landed two more decent fish. One had a split fin, whilst the other had a healed gash in the body (they must have started rutting for the females, or an otter swung by and they narrowly escaped I guess). Fished for about 4 hours in total, and during the winter months you can't beat a pink wool tup bug on this beat. Hopefully will come back soon!

A lovely day trotting maggot on the builth Wells club stretch . Took a while to get the Grayling feeding but soon started getting regular bites , all fish were a good size with the largest tipping the scales at 2lbs . A number of fish had wounds , possibly from the 3 goosanders who watched on for most of the day .

The day looked promising - overcast and occasional drizzle. The water looked promising - good flow but relatively clear. The equipment was good - we were experimenting with nymphing. Sadly the fish hadn't read the script! Two rods - 3 fish to one and one hooked and lost to the other. Challenging but none the less enjoyable.

A very cold but beautiful day.The river was running at perfect height and crystal clear, a slight upstream wind and so perfect conditions. I caught fish right from the first cast trotting maggot, the biggest Grayling was 15' in perfect condition and very solid and substantial girth. I would say around 1 3/4 lb. also 3 out of season WBT .

Beat:Skenfrith

Fishing:Winter Grayling

Exceptionally mild day and river wadeable for most of its length. TH and MH had a grayling each and lost at least one other. Several oos trout caught. Goldhead and other nymphs fished in teams. Bearing in mind reports of a dip in numbers of fish caught on Skenfrith beat in recent times, we felt this was a pretty good day on the river.

2 x grayling 13 and 14 inches, trotting. A warm, windy day with cloud but the fishing was unaccountably difficult. Also two fish came off before I could see what they were.
