2 trout on small gnat
Hot day, a few fish rising, but less than when I visited last month. Also less room now that the vegetation has further grown, so 8’ rod feels too long.

Hard fishing, as expected on such a hot day. Banks very overgrown so access to the river tricky in places.

I love this venue! However sport was a little on the slow side today, but we had quite a good day in the end on the upper sections of this beat.

Another scorching day. The water below the woods was choked with Renaculus Weed and barely moving, so my only option was to fish from the rocks in the wooded area where the water was fast moving and in the shade. I started well catching Chub but the swim was very uncomfortable. Out of the blue at 14:15 I caught an 8lb Barbel, after which I lost my terminal tackle on the next three casts. I wasn't happy with the swim, so deciding I had done well in difficult conditions I packed up.

Very very hot, river was so low and full of weed in places that you could walk to the other side without getting your feet wet.
Tried 4 swims, one bite in the mid morning resulting in a small chub. River desperately needs some water.

3 anglers fished this beat, the other 3 in our party fished upper backney which is adjacent. We found the fish in deeper slower water in the far bank margins, and they came to the usual pellet and feeder tactics throughout the day.

Hot with slight breeze. Fished the upstream faster water and landed small WBT on rusty Klinkhammer. Afternoon was dead but lots of rises from 9PM til darkness fell. Had half a dozen tugs at the tail of the bridge pool. One a very solid fish but lost it after a minutes struggle. It went deep around my feet, causing slack line and it as off. Used small pale watery.
